Living aligned with the Moon
Mama Moon has been associated women and our natural cycles since the beginning of recorded time- the women who came before us used the phases of the moon to track menstrual cycles, planting & harvesting, gatherings, and worship. These days it is easy to fall out of sync with the natural rhythms with the use of fluorescent lights and modern schedules that keep us up and running for longer, but, it is not impossible to rekindle the connection to the moon phases. Here is a simple guide to inspire.

In the darkness of the New Moon we are encouraged to look within, to take stock of our abundance, to sort what needs healing. We naturally feel more tired at the New Moon, and rest and rejuvenation is welcome. If a woman's moon time is synced with the phases, it is often at the New Moon that menses begins. This isthe time for shedding what no longer serves us and creating space within us and around us to welcome in what we hope for the coming month. Set intentions, journal what you wish to manifest, and have a burning ceremony for what you wish to release. In life this ideally a time to gather ideas, creative vision, and reflect- hold off on jumping into a new endeavor or project.

The energy begins to come back under the waxing moon- after shedding excess 'baggage' with the New Moon you may feel light, inspired, and enthusiastic about creating something new or approaching an old problem with a new perspective. The waxing moon is the time to network, bring others into your vision, create a task list for your life with clarity and purpose.

The Full Moon is magical in her illumination. The seeds you planted at the New Moon are coming to fruition and the ground work you laid during the waxing moon are in place- often you feel as though you are coming into the 'flow', 'chi', or 'prana' of your life and endeavors. The full moon illuminates the shadows and sometimes this can bring up unresolved feelings, doubt, or uncertainty- instead of shying away, lean into it and see how you can better support yourself and your self care practices to ground yourself in high vibrations. Your energy will be at the highest point of the month and this is when ovulation is more likely to occur- you may physically, emotionally, spiritually, and personally feel fertile.

The waning moon can feel like coming down off of a high as the energy from the Full Moon begins to fade. This is a time for wrapping up your projects, endeavors, shelving things that don't need your attention right now, and creating space for the sacred New Moon time. If you know you need closure in an area of your life this is the time to do it and create resolution on areas that feel ungrounded. Journaling can be a powerful practice during this phase of the moon to help make sense of the push and pull of Full and New Moon energies happening within you and around you.
